The Missouri compromise is how the government made a compromise with the north and south on slaves. The north states did not want slavery any more and they where trying to get rid of it but the southern states did not want to give up there slaves the south were worried about the north out voting them and slaves becoming free so they went to the government and made up a compromise that the south could expand into the louisiana but not into the north of the of territory that way the south could still have there slaves and the north set the slaves free. The south also could not get out voted now. And thats the Missouri Compromise.
